Visit Scandinavia: Stockholm, Oslo and Helsinki

Stockholm
The capital city of Sweden is also the most charming. The city offers attractive waterways, parks, gardens, fairytale castles, churches and palaces. The maritime feel to the city makes it a place full of life, energy to visit.

Transportation: Getting here and around
By air, can travel to Arlanda airport. Stockholm airport is about 30 miles from downtown the city. By land you have the option of long distance bus or train. The main bus station is Cityterminalen, which is near the train station Centralstationen. If coming from Helsinki or Turku, the ferry is also an option.

Climate
From May to July you can enjoy the Swedish summer, it takes about nine hours of sunshine each day. The winter dark and cold but with frequent snowfalls. The temperature in July and August averages and below freezing at 16 C winter.

Oslo city is compact enough to walk, but can pamper yourself with a ferry trip on the fjord. There is also a choice of buses, subways and taxis.

Oslo weather is pretty tame compared to other Scandinavian sites. Temperatures are about 16 C up during the long days of summer. However there are coastal frequent rain. Winter is snowy and there is no daylight, so it can be very grim.

Helsinki
The city with its waterways and parks feel the fresh air of the nearby sea. With influences from Russia and Sweden, Finnish capital has a bustling market square surrounded by classical architecture and outdoor cafes if you make a great place to hang out on summer nights.

Vantaa International Airport, 12 miles away from the city serves flights from Russia and other European countries. The ferry connects Sweden, Estonia and Germany. The train also has international connections.

Traveling around town is easy with a single ticket that serves all Public transport including the tram, metro, ferry and bus. You can also rent a cycle of a machine conveniently coins and try one of the city trails cycle.

Time
The winter months can reach as cold as -5 C in Helsinki, while summer averages 25 C. If you are looking for some sun the best months to visit are June to September.
